A university in China once made a special investigation on toy products, and found that 90% of the products involved in the notification of excessive formaldehyde risk were wooden toys. Because in the production process of such toys, urea formaldehyde resin adhesive is mostly used for splicing, and one of its raw materials is formaldehyde.
A foreign research institute has also been tracking and testing wooden toys for many years, and finally found that because wooden toys are relatively flammable, manufacturers will add a lot of flame retardants in their production process, in addition to polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, formaldehyde and other harmful substances, which exist in paint, rivet, wire and plywood.
In addition, due to the defects of the product design itself, or the insecure fixation and adhesion of the product components or the insufficient strength of the materials during the production process, the components will fall off or break, forming sharp tips or edges of small parts eaten by children by mistake, and stabbing and scratching children's skin.
Therefore, wooden toys are not as safe as expected. It is suggested that Baobao's parents should pay attention to the certification mark when choosing toys for their babies.
What certification marks do wooden toys have
EU: CE certification
In the EU market, the "CE" mark is a mandatory certification mark. Whether products produced by enterprises within the EU or products produced in other countries, if they want to circulate freely in the EU market, they must be affixed with the "CE" mark. Since January 1990, all toy products on the EU market must be marked with CE certification, indicating that the product safety performance complies with the European toy safety standards.
China: 3C certification
The full name of 3C certification is "Compulsory Product Certification System". It is a product conformity assessment system implemented by the Chinese government in accordance with laws and regulations to protect consumers' personal safety and national security, strengthen product quality management.
