"Camping fever" drives the rapid development of upstream and downstream industries
Outdoor camping is inseparable from eating, drinking, living and the use of related products. From the necessary needs such as tents and barbecue racks to the derived needs such as sky curtains, campers and night lights, the rising camping consumption has also driven the development of the upstream and downstream industrial chains.
The reporter visited many shopping malls and sporting goods stores and learned that in recent years, the sales of complete sets of camping supplies continued to grow.
Wu Haowei, commercial director of an outdoor products company in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province: Some practical accessories, such as cooking utensils, lighting lamps, sleeping bags, are popular with young users. From the beginning of the year to the present, the camping movement has achieved an increase of more than 50%, and the camping furniture series has more than doubled.
According to the data, before 2014, there were only hundreds of domestic enterprises engaged in the camping industry, which has rapidly increased to more than 10000 in the past two years. Many enterprises have targeted this large potential market.
In an exhibition hall with the theme of camping in Taizhou, Zhejiang Province, there are nearly 200 kinds of camping supplies, ranging from dinner plates and lamps to thermal insulation bags and tents, all of which are new products independently developed by a local enterprise. The person in charge of the enterprise told the reporter that their domestic market orders increased 2.5 times last year, and the output value reached 30 million yuan. In the first quarter of this year, despite the adverse impact of the epidemic, the order volume still grew against the trend, and the annual output value is expected to exceed 30 million yuan.
Research data shows that the scale of the core market of the national camping economy will reach more than 74 billion yuan in 2021, with a year-on-year growth of 62.5%; Drive the market scale of more than 380 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 58.5%. It is estimated that the core market size of China's camping economy will grow to more than 240 billion yuan in 2025, driving the market size to more than 1440 billion yuan.
Standardize management and promote healthy development of camping economy
As a new industry, camping involves equipment manufacturing, transportation, camp construction, service guarantee and other aspects. In the rapid development, it also exposes hidden dangers in environmental protection, tourist safety and other aspects. At present, relevant departments are improving relevant policies and measures to promote the healthy development of camping economy.
In 2016, when the camping economy began to take shape, the state determined the relevant standards for the construction and services of leisure campsites.
In 2019, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism began to organize the evaluation of the "Self driving RV Camp Quality Grading". Currently, 35 high-grade self driving RV camps have been evaluated.
At the end of last year, the "Fourteenth Five Year Plan" for Tourism Development issued by the state made it clear that a network camp service system and a relatively complete self driving RV tourism industry chain should be formed, and a number of self driving RV camps and tourist posts should be launched.
To standardize the development of camping industry, all regions are also actively exploring. Recently, Shanghai has put forward specific requirements for the basic operating conditions of tent camps, camp construction and basic services, special services and supporting services for tourists.
Experts in the industry believe that this series of norms and guidance can not only support the development of camping economy, but also avoid various problems in its brutal growth, making it a new economic growth point.
Dai Bin, President of China Tourism Research Institute: We will do a good job in the promotion and development of the camping economy. On this basis, we will regulate the safety, health and environmental protection of campers, and effectively regulate and improve commercial service projects.
